  1. Jerry Rice never really wanted to play
  2. football. He was a good basketball
  3. player and also ran track in high school.
  4. But one day he decided to skip class. 
  5. He was hanging out in the hall when the
  6. high school vice-principal slipped up
  7. behind him. Jerry was caught by
  8. surprise and took off running. All the
  9. vice-principal saw was a flash of JerryΓÇÖs
  10. red jacket going around the corner. The
  11. vice-principal did catch up with him,
  12. though. But instead of punishing Jerry,
  13. he gave him a choice: Go to detention 
  14. or try out for the school football team.
  15. (He didnΓÇÖt want that great speed to go to
  16. waste!) Jerry chose football.
